AGTR celebrated its 35 anniversary

By Agata Zumaeta | Project Leader

On July 16 we celebrated 35 years as an organization. It has been a path of many joys and achievements:

• The girls in child domestic wok who arrived at La Casa de Panchita and who today, as young people, are organized as a group managed by themselves and provide services to girls at risk of child domestic work in their communities, which they recognize and value your support.

• The 30 girls at risk of entering child domestic work who each year improve their nutrition with the help of food for themselves and their families and have workshops to improve their self-esteem.

• The nearly 400 women who participate in job training sessions each year, as a prerequisite to accessing the free services of our employment agency, LA CASA DE PANCHITA S.A.C.

• The more than 200 workers who sign a written employment contract each year, with recognition of their labor rights.

• The thousands of domestic workers who have received information and guidance on their labor rights and duties, recognized in Law 31047 - Domestic Workers Law, and manage to improve their working conditions.

• The domestic workers who have resolved their claims with the mediation of La Casa de Panchita assistance.

• The almost 1,000 people who listen to our program on Facebook “We are not invisible”, aimed at domestic workers, employers and citizens in general to inform them about Law 31047, the Domestic Workers Law.

And this month we celebrate our work.

We had a special No Somos Invisibles program, we received greetings from several domestic workers, former volunteers and allies of the organization.

We also had our TITA meetings, our theatrical improvisation and expressive arts workshop.

And we closed our activities with a delicious lunch shared with the domestic workers.

We hope to continue our work supporting women domestic workers and strengthening their work skills so that they have the knowledge and tools necessary to negotiate better working and living conditions. And look after the girls who are at risk of working in a house as minors and taking risks.

Duties and Rights go hand in hand.
