A Sunday full of Stories

By Agata Zumaeta | Project Leader

On Sunday, May 21, we had our TITA workshop (Theatrical improvisation and expressive arts workshop for domestic workers).

We were expecting eleven women who had confirmed their attendance. But only six of them arrived: Estela, Flor, Graciela, Leidy, Minia and María Elena.

As the workshop lasts three hours we decided to do the check in meeting each other, it was the best decision we could do.

Each one told a bit of their story, six mobilizing stories, of struggle, of suffering, of courage, of loss, of death, but also of resilience, resistance, survival.

They were difficult stories to tell, but this TITA group has already been working together for five months and there is confidence in the group.

After listening to the stories, we gave each other a group hug. It was a very emotional and beautiful moment, feeling the support of the group in that hug.

Then we watched the video that has been made about this workshop and that was presented for the first time internationally on May 16 at the 2nd Latin American Fair RECONEXIÓN, organized by RED COLLABORAR, which is a community of civil society organizations from Latin America and the Caribbean and to which AGTR belongs.

We closed the space by creating a poem among all of us about the sensations or images that this meeting had left and then we finished by making a circle very close to each other and giving ourselves massages.

I share the poem that emerged:

Beautiful meeting of women, tears, laughter, shared stories.

Love that grows in community.

Thanks to life, today I know situations like mine, shared pain. Learning.

Shared experiences, I know that we are important warrior women, despite our experiences of each one, we keep going.

One day of sadness, we talked about ills but there was also relaxation because we laughed too.

Today I am very happy to share my experiences with my friends.

When I'm in TITA my emotions flow

I feel free.

Meeting of emotions and being with friends.
