What we achieved together

Dear Supporters,

It has been a while since we looked back at what we have achieved together. We would like to share with you what you helped us accomplish during the past three years (from 2018 to 2020). Even during the pandemic, with your support, we were able to keep helping adult domestic workers and girls exposed to child domestic labor:

  • 4,613 women employed as domestic workers were informed about their labour rights and services available to them. AGTR implements an information, motivation and mobilization program for women who work as paid domestic workers so that they are aware of current regulations and the options we offer them to access formal jobs, with all employment benefits.
  • 1,420 domestic workers took part in workshops to improve their negotiation skills, employability and self-esteem. Our training workshops prepare women to negotiate better employment conditions, resolve conflicts in their workplace, and educate them about their rights and duties, according to the law.
  • 1,064 adult domestic workers were placed in formal jobs. Thanks to the support of our in-house employment agency, La Casa de Panchita SAC, trained workers have access to formal jobs, with full recognition of their labor rights, fair pay and decent employment conditions.
  • 156 radio programs were produced and broadcast. AGTR produces and broadcasts the only radio program in Peru dedicated to paid domestic work and the situation of women who work in this sector, with the aim of raising awareness among the rest of society.
  • 30 girls in child domestic labor We support 30 girl child domestic workers through a healthy nutrition and school support program. Every month, the 30 girls from very low-income households receive a highly nutritious food basket, playful-educational workshops and school support so that they can build a better future.

Improving the livelihoods of women employed as domestic workers gives them the means to support their families, preventing the risk of their children to become child laborers. According to a recent survey we carried out, most of our beneficiaries have two or three children and half of them are the only ones providing for their household. Our goal is to stop the spiral of poverty that prevents new generations from low-income social segments from gaining access to the means to build a better future for themselves. With your help we can make it happen! Thank you for your continued interest and support.

Sincerely,

Andrea Gandolfi
