March 30th, International Day of Domestic workers

By Agata Zumaeta | Projecto Leader

Activities for March 30, International Day of Domestic Workers.

Since 1988, March 30th has been commemorated as the day of domestic workers, this date has the purpose of promoting the value of domestic work and calling for actions to claim the rights of those who do it, mostly women.

AGTR carried out various activities this month. We had special Sunday workshops such as the TITA workshop (Theatrical improvisation and expressive arts workshop) and a session with practical exercises to manage stress given by our dear volunteer Pilar Cama.

Eight domestic workers followers of our program "We are not invisible" (NSI), a program that talks about the problems of domestic workers every Monday night through FB. They participated in the recording of three spots alluding to three basic rights contained in law 31047 of domestic workers. The rights are: Right to a written employment contract; rights to vacations and holidays and the right to gratuity.

The spots were recorded and disseminated continuously through the Facebook page of AGTR and through NSI programm.

I share the spots for you to see:

On the last Sunday of March we organized a trip to the beach with the domestic workers, we were a group of 23 people. It was a wonderful month!

Together and together we can achieve change.
