Project Report | Feb 24, 2020
Onwards and Upwards

By Maddie Schroeder | NGO Assistant

Safety activities are fun for our students
Safety activities are fun for our students

Our Child Safety Program has made great strides in the past few months! One of our previous interns, Emily, created the foundation for the program before she left in September. Since then, we have welcomed Maddie and Alejandra who have been fundamental in the program. They created 10 lesson plans for students plus an additional parent class to give them valuable safety information. They also created an in-depth teacher’s guide. We are proud of the high-quality program they have produced!

In November and December, the program was implemented in our Peruvian school with great success. The students were engaged and loved the lessons since they were so interactive. Some students gave very thoughtful answers in the discussions. It was a learning experience for both the teachers and the students, and we are excited to make improvements so we can continue building on the program.

At Picaflor House, we started a new school year, which means many newly enrolled students! We are preparing to conduct our second round of the Child Safety Program in March. The program will be taught at six-month intervals from now on to ensure all of our students, even the ones that come late in the year, receive this invaluable information. We are proud and excited to do the program again!

Thank you for taking the time to read our update, and as always, thank you for your continued, invaluable support. If you would like to donate, and we hope you do, please visit our page to do so!
