Empowering Children & Keepin them safe from harm

Empowering vulnerable children by teaching them about their safety is a critical step towards protecting them from harm. By providing children with knowledge and skills related to personal safety, they can learn to identify potentially dangerous situations and take appropriate action to protect themselves. This includes teaching children how to recognize warning signs of abuse, how to say "no" to unwanted physical contact, and how to seek help from trusted adults. Empowering children to take control of their own safety can also help to increase their self-esteem and self-confidence.

It's important to note that teaching children about safety should be done in a way that is developmentally appropriate and avoids causing unnecessary fear or anxiety. This can involve using age-appropriate language and examples, as well as creating a safe and supportive learning environment. By teaching children about safety in a way that is empowering and positive, we can help them to feel more confident in their ability to navigate the world and protect themselves from harm. Ultimately, by investing in the safety and well-being of vulnerable children, we can help to create a brighter and more secure future for all.

Our work in Peru & Cambodia

We deliver child protection classes to vulnerable children in Peru and Cambodia to help them understand how to keep themselves safe. In Cambodia we have an ongoing program at our Helping Hands school in the rural community of Prast Cha reaching over 300 children.

In Peru we deliver the classes at our Picaflor House school reaching over 60 children. We hope to extend this program to more rural children once resourses and fuding allow. Due to the political issues in Peru right now, we have paused the program as the protests are causing a lot of disruption and we need to regularly close the school for the safety of children and staff. Things are calming down now but there is no end in sight to the political issues Peru is currently facing. We have a new intern in Peru for 6 months to assist in delivering the classes once it is safe to do so.

If you'd like any more information about our programs, please don't hesitate to ask.
