Help Revolutionize Education For Peruvian Children

After the experience of adapting to a pandemic context the previous year, in 2021 we were able to find great opportunities in order to take learning to the next level despite the limitations that each student faced. Once again we were able to confirm that, whatever the context and difficulties might be, learning does not stop.

Most students in Peru were not able to go to school, and they were reached by their teachers through telephone, television, radio, and a few in person. What was only seen as a challenge at the beginning, became also an opportunity for students and teachers to develop unique skills such as resilience. In this way, with the available resources and the support of donors like you, Enseña Peru was able to continue working and bring quality education to over 12,000 students in more than 125 schools in 14 regions of Peru through our programs.

These last years have revealed and at the same time deepened the inequality in education. That is why we continue to work motivated by the purpose of bringing opportunities to those who need them the most; so that girls, boys, and young people in Peru can develop their full potential and generate a positive impact on their communities.

We hope to continue counting on your support this year, together is posible to provide transcendent education for all students in Peru.

Enseña Perú Staff

Karina - one of our fellows - is a teacher in a small school located in the Runtu community in San Marcos, Ancash. She took on the challenge of teaching a classroom with students from 1st to 4th grade of elementary school using the TiNi methodology, which centers learning experiences on the Earth so that students can connect class topics with nature.

The school designated a space for students to plant crops while reinforcing subjects like math, communication, science and art. Through this way of learning, students developed a high level of environmental awareness and it gave rise to the "Runtu Limpio" project, a cleaning campaign in which parents, neighbors, school principal and district mayor joined the students to clean different areas in the community. The students were the ones leading this project and were even able to broadcast messages environmental awareness trough the local radio.

This is the kind of education that all students in Peru deserve: an education that puts the student at the center of learning, that builds around their needs and gives them the autonomy to be leaders that positively influence their communities. On International Day of Education, we want to say thank you for being part of this movement and making possible more stories like this!
