Every New Attack Creates Another Family in Need

The humanitarian crisis in Benue State is far from over.
Even as GoGreen continues to support displaced families through our Feed Displaced Families in Benue, Nigeria project, fresh waves of violence are creating new victims and deepening the crisis. In July 2026, gunmen attacked the Otukpo-Nobi community. Police confirmed eight deaths and five injuries; however, residents and local officials reported the true toll may be at least 18 lives lost. Homes were also set ablaze, leaving families with nothing.
Just a few months before, in April 2026, tragedy struck again. Seventeen civilians were killed in an attack on the Mbalom community, Gwer West.
Behind every statistic is a story:
- A mother grieving the loss of her home.
- A child facing hunger and uncertainty about the next meal.
- A farmer unable to return to the land that once sustained his family.
- An elderly person left wholly dependent on humanitarian aid.
Each new attack stretches the already limited resources available, making it even harder to meet the needs of displaced families.

A Farming Family Can Lose Everything Overnight
In Benue, thousands of farming families depend entirely on their land for survival. Yet, when violence strikes, a once-independent household can be forced to flee, losing everything in a single night.
Families caught in conflict leave behind:
- Crops and stored food
- Livestock and farm tools
- Clothing, cooking materials, and treasured homes
This devastating loss is a harsh reality for many in Benue. In July 2026, the Otukpo-Nobi community endured another deadly attack, with lives lost, injuries reported, and homes burned.
For survivors, escaping the violence is only the beginning of a daunting journey. Each day brings urgent questions:
- Where will the children sleep?
- What will the family eat?
- How can a farmer provide when it’s unsafe to return to the fields?
Through our Feed Displaced Families in Benue, Nigeria, project, GoGreen delivers emergency food and essential support to help families through these darkest days. Our aim is not to create dependency but to offer vital support while families regain their stability and safety.

Please Don’t Let the Families of Benue Be Forgotten
In a world filled with competing crises, it’s easy for some stories to go unnoticed. Yet, behind every humanitarian emergency are real people—families hoping that someone will recognize their suffering and respond with compassion.
This week, the GoGreen team visited Otukpo-Nobi in Benue State after recent violence. We met families living with profound loss and uncertainty. We saw homes destroyed, livelihoods disrupted, and heard deep concerns about food, displacement, and the future.
Our message is simple and urgent: please do not let these families be forgotten.
Through the Feed Displaced Families in Benue, Nigeria project, GoGreen is working to provide emergency food, safe water, hygiene materials, blankets, sleeping mats, dignity kits, and other essential relief items to households affected by conflict.
