Birthday Tea Gathering
By Janice Wong | Project Officer
![]()
Birthday is that special day we all wish to be showered with love and joy!
For this year’s Senior Birthday Party, Food Angel has selected a nostalgic Chinese restaurant to celebrate with our elderly friends.
In addition to savoury dim sum dishes for lunch, we have arranged special guided tour at the “Tao Heung Museum of Food Culture”, with exhibition of Chinese vintage treasures that evoked those good-old-day memories for many of them.
Special thanks to NWS Holdings Charities Foundation for supporting our senior birthday celebration programme this year, together with their team of volunteers, bringing heartwarming memories and gift delights to each of our elderly friends.
It is nevertheless important to have your support! Let's join hands with Food Angel and share love together.

It’s the Year of the Dragon!
Food Angel has prepared a special dish – “Braised Chicken with Sea Cucumber and Abalone” to bring festive joy and spread love with those in need . Our team also took this opportunity to visit some of our charity partners in various districts, in hope to share joy to our elderly friends and families.
A mild cold wave may sweep across the city during the New Year but our love will bring warmth to everyone!
We specially thanks Community Chest HK on sponsorship of festive menu to bring warmth and blessings to our service users.

Mission Save the Pumpkins
By Janice Wong | Project Officer

This early summer,a“sea of red” was suddenly spotted at avegetable wholesale market. It turned out thata large number of pumpkinswerepiled upthere due to poorsales. The market has set an ultimatum that if thepumpkins could not be disposed of in time, they will be sent to the landsfill.Due to the hot summer weather and occasional strong winds and heavy rains, the stall owner contacted Food Angelimmediatelytodonate all the pumpkinsbefore they turned rotten and were discarded. Upon receiving the call, our food rescue staffrushed to the sceneto checkthe condition of the pumpkins, andeventually“rescued” and successfully recycleda total of 16 pallets ofpumpkinstotalling 7,000kg.
These pumpkins were first sent to our Food Stationto besorted, peeled andslicedby our kitchen staff and volunteers, and then transferredtoour kitchens to be made into savoury pumpkin soupandasan accompaniment toour hot and cook-chillmeals.Pumpkin contains many different vitamins and anti-oxidants, and helps boost immunity and protects theeyes.Due to the large number of recycled pumpkins, they were not fully utilised by our kitchens. We also shared the pumpkins with our Charity Partners. The urgent taskof food rescue was finally completed in time.
Everyone joined handsand savedthis sea ofpumpkins!
