To help address the challenges associated with Hong Kong’s aging population, Food Angel partners with The Hongkong Bank Foundation to launch “Hearty-Meal Express”, a community programme that combines smart automated food dispenser with local caring network to establish a “neighbourhood-support” model for needy elderly. Under the programme, sustainable food assistance will be provided with the aim to weave the isolated elderly into the community.
Lam Tin Ping Tin Estate is our first service point, targeting for deployment to other needy communities in future. With support from HSBC volunteers and other local network, we hope to create a sustainable and supportive environment for our senior citizens.
Also thanks to your support, allowing us to “Delivering Food with Love”. We will continue to work hard on providing innovative and flexible food assistance to support those in need and respond to the growing needs of the community.

During the time when Cold Weather Warnings had been issued in the past few months, the temperature drop and rain imposed challenge to the elderly who are physically weak. Care and greetings will provide them with the warmth they need.
Grandma Wong is a petite old lady living alone. She has lost her appetite with age and suffers from malnutrition. Weighting less than 80lb, she relies on milk powder for nutrition and Epoetin injections. Her health and the cold weather are worrisome for our social workers.
Our social workers usually would give Grandma Wong a visit or a call to check on her, so it was a surprise when they received a call from Grandma Wong herself. She sounded thrilled over the phone and gave compliments on the festive hot meal ‘Fish Maw with Shrimp Paste’, which was a longforgotten dish she used to have in the dim sum place, and it boosted her appetite. She felt energized and warm after having this special meal.
'Fish Maw with Shrimp Paste’ is a special meal from the ‘Delivering Love’ programme. It provides meals with festive elements, and we hope to celebrate the festivals with our members through this programme. A simple hot meal carries our blessings to the elderly, with the food we hope to share love and warmth around the clock.

Hong Kong is a small city, yet there are still many remote villages and newly developed communities that lack resources to support the elderly who are living alone and families in need.
This is why Food Angel, together with the Bank of China (Hong Kong), launched the "Love and Meals on Wheels" project to distribute meals, food packs and other services to those remote areas in a more flexible way.
We recently hosted an event - "Mobile Health Station", allowing us to distribute meals and provide simple health check up service for elderly, such as measuring BMI, blood pressure, blood sugar and oxygen levels.
Grandpa Cheung, who lives in a rural village, has been staying in his neighborhood during the pandemic. Even if he felt sick, he would only take the medicine bought from stores instead of seeing a doctor. He was very grateful that our team went all the way to show him that we care, making him feel less alone.
In fact, apart from fulfilling food needs, we wish to spread love to every corner and bring joy to those in need. Let us join hands and share blessings to the community!
