Transforming Deserts into Sustainable Green Farms

Season’s greetings.

We are pleased to share encouraging updates on the work of CHCS in converting arid desert land into productive green farms. Despite limited resources, our determination remains strong. With the continued partnership of the GlobalGiving Foundation, meaningful progress has been achieved in regions where hardship has long been the norm.

Over the past six months, twelve new green farms have been successfully developed in Thar. This area has historically faced drought, poverty, and food insecurity. These farms now provide fresh seasonal vegetables, fodder for livestock, and a dependable source of income for vulnerable families.

Beyond improving food availability, the farms are strengthening local livelihoods, supporting household stability, and restoring dignity to communities living in extremely challenging conditions.

While the results are promising, the need for additional farms and supporting infrastructure, particularly water wells, remains urgent. Water availability is the foundation of this initiative, and limited funding continues to restrict expansion. The success of the existing farms clearly shows what is possible with sustained support.

It gives me immense joy to share the encouraging progress made by CHCS in its mission to transform barren desert lands into flourishing green farms. With limited means but unwavering resolve, our partnership with the GlobalGiving Foundation has continued to deliver remarkable outcomes. Over the last six months, we have successfully established nine new green farms in Thar a region where drought and poverty have long overshadowed hope.

These farms are more than cultivated plots; they are lifelines. They now provide seasonal vegetables, fodder for livestock, and reliable sources of income for marginalized families. Beyond improving food availability, these farms uplift the local economy, empower families, and restore dignity to communities struggling against a harsh environment.

While the results are heartening, the demand for additional farms and infrastructure especially water wells remains urgent. Water is at the core of this initiative, and limited funding continues to pose challenges for expansion. The impact of our current farms clearly demonstrates the transformative potential of this work, but to move forward we rely on your continued generosity.
