Healing women groups share ancestral knowledge

Hi there! We have a very important notice to share with you about the Health center project.

First of all, we have published our community herbarium "Living ground". You must remember that at the beginning of this year we were working on a community project for identifying the local medicinal plants, and now we have assembled a beautiful manual with a lot of knowledge and thoughts that are available for everyone. What good is the knowledge if it's not shared? This was one of our principal goals, so we feel very grateful and satisfied with this result.

We have continued working in the medicinal garden of our educational center, we tried to make tequios (volunteer help) for maintaining the garden. And we are having health workshops, and women listening groups, cause we still believe that the first step for sharing wellness is to have well-being for ourselves.

Nevertheless, we decided to stop this project for a while because the women who belong to the health promotors are now trying to self-manage. Many of them are producing different natural products, and medicinal remedies and taking care of their family’s health. We have a virtual group with people who have access to digital devices and is a constant sharing of tips, and companionship between women. We are proud of being witnesses to the personal growth of all these women, and now, as an organization, we have clarity and absolute trust about how valuable is to look for community emotional healing.

But even though, we are closing this project in GlobalGiving we will maintain “community health” as a principle that permeates our educational-productive model. We are sure we will share more news about this in our other project, we invite you to follow them, not without first thanking you for all the support you gave us to fulfill health needs in our villages.

Sincerely,

UMPOs team
