Concert 'Let the Children Dream'

Hello everyone!

We have had a busy 2022 so far, so here are some news:

We can finally share with the world the news- Sistema Cyprus is getting its own home in Nicosia AND a second orchestra!

We are hoping to move into the new premises in May 2022. We will also welcome 50 more children into our musical family in September 2022 by creating a second strings orchestra at our Nicosia nucleo.

In March, our young musicians had the chance to perform alongside professional musicians for a unique concert. The concert was called 'Let the Children Dream' and that was the message we wanted to spread, that through these hard times we should always remember that children are the future, and dreaming is the most powerful empowerment tool for their development.

We are extremely proud to share that four of our young musicians had the honor to participate in ODE – Orchestre Démos Europe initiative, a collaboration between the Sistema Europe Association (which Sistema Cyprus is a member of) and ODE. This took place in the last week of February 2022 at the Philharmonie de Paris.

The project involved young instrumentalists from 15 Sistema Europe programs, meeting their peers to form a unique 120-member youth orchestra of socially oriented projects from all EU countries.

They performed on Saturday, 26 February 2022 at the Grande Salle Pierre Boulez at the occasion of France’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union. You can watch the concert here: https://live.philharmoniedeparis.fr/concert/1136183/

Finally, we are celebrating one year since becoming an official GlobalGiving partner.

Our news: A summer full of music!

Hello friends!

Hope you had a great summer! Even though we have no lessons during summer, we sure kept busy! Here are some things we have been up to:

We presented to the world for the first time the Cypriot rendition of The Lullaby Project by Sistema Cyprus in partnership with New York's Carnegie Hall. During Sistema Europe Youth Orchestra Summer Fest 2021 we were lucky to learn about conducting in a seminar delivered by Conductor Sascha Goetzel, what an honour! We practiced our conducting skills and had lots of fun!
In early summer, four children from Sistema Cyprus had the great opportunity to participate in the Cultural Crossroads Cyprus's Week of Intensive Classes & Musical Training in Limassol thanks to the kind support of Andrey & Julia Dashin's Foundation. Our students received valuable guidance and lasting inspiration from remarkable musicians.
For a second year, Sistema Cyprus took part in the online International Orchestra and Choir Camp 'Side by Side by El Sistema 2021' Jubileumslägret Side by Side by El Sistema. This time around, our newly formed wind orchestra in Larnaca participated and celebrated its first year together with children and young people from around the world. Finally, if you want to hear and see how music can change children’s lives, you should definitely watch our very own Mohammed's speech, who participated in the first Cyprus rendition of MusEdX. During his speech, he shared how destiny brought Sistema Cyprus in his life, and the impact that had on him. We are so honoured to have met this young boy and watch him grown into the man he is!
