Warmth from Mexico City, and a note from 2 teens!

By Shoshana Grossman-Crist | Strategic Activation Director

Virtual workshop!
Virtual workshop!

Dear GlobalGivers,

Depending on where in the world you are, you may be deep in snow right now. If you are, we hope you are enjoying it and getting out to play and breath in the crisp winter air! We wanted to send you some warmth from Mexico, in the form of two testimonies from Iztapalapa, Mexico City.

Back in December we told you how thanks to you, in 2020 we exceeded our goal of working with youth to stop the spread of Covid-19, reaching five of the municipalities with the highest number of cases (Iztapalapa, Xochimilco, Milpa Alta, Tlalpan and Alvaro Obregón) in Mexico! Among the 401 people we trained, Luis and Brenda wanted to send their thanks to you, and tell you about their experience.

17-year-old Luis told us at the end of the virtual workshop that he was leaving "Informed, I learned a little about everything in the workshop, thanks to you I already know how to handle situations and emotions, also with knowledge of Covid and how to take care of ourselves".

His classmate Brenda told us: “I'm leaving happy, I liked it a lot, doing a reflection together despite everything we are experiencing and the distance, the moods, economic and social situation, I am leaving wanting to modify everything that this medium bad food and other factors that damage health, really thank you very much, I liked it a lot”.

With Covid-19 again on the rise across Mexico right now, not only Brenda and Luis but their families, friends and neighbors now stand a greater chance against Covid-19 as they wait for vaccines to reach them.

In gratitude,
Shoshana and the whole Yo quiero Yo puedo team
