Young Promoters from Cuautepec School
Young Promoters from Cuautepec School

During 2022, and as a strategy to combat the impacts of the pandemic on family life, mental health and promote the reduction of risk factors in young people, we have worked with three schools in the state of Hidalgo training their students as youth promoters. Today, more than 160 young promoters are disseminating information and prevention messages among their peers, learning to design and use virtual and face-to-face strategies. By the end of June, their message: “We are girls and boys and we can have fun safely!” It has reached more than 2,000 and has gone viral on various social networks.

Some of the messages shared by our promoters regarding prevention:

I take with me the learning that violence is not good in friendships or relationships, and the ways to have a non-toxic relationship.”

“Dear body, I know that it mistreated you a lot and that sometimes I don't appreciate you, but cookies are irresistible , my body, I thank you for putting up with so many blows, but you know that I love you and I know that I don't take care of you that way (for eat so much) but really  thank you for not failing me ”

Student. School Tulancingo. Male 16 years old.

In parallel, through webinars, we have worked with parents and caregivers to promote a harmonious family life and provide practical information to work on issues such as sexuality, suicide prevention, unplanned pregnancy and the changes generated by the health contingency in the family sphere.

ICTs have played a very important role in these results, and we hope to continue strengthening the knowledge imparted, in order to support them in making the most of these tools in their role as agents of change.

"I'm leaving (this session) happy and I learned a lot about personal information and how to take care of it. I also learned how to relate more between social networks for a more appropriate use"
