We thank everyone who is donating towards this project. Through this, Whisper's Magical Children's Hospital is able to facilitate the continuity of blood donation sessions. This was established with the aim of ensuring constant organisation of blood donation sessions and also ensuring safe blood processing and screening with an overall objective of reducing the number of deaths due to shortage of blood for transfusion.
In the last three months Whisper's Magical Children's Hospital has managed to transfuse 526 blood units to the anemic patients in the hospital. Malaria and sickle cell disease are still the leading causes of severe anemia among our patients. During rainy seasons, the number of patients diagnosed with malaria tends to rise hence causing an increase in the total number of anemic patients.
The major challenge we face during the organisation of blood donation sessions is the limited number of generous volunteers who are willing to donate blood. Most of the communities are still ignorant about the advantages of donating blood.

This project was established to continuously organise blood donation sessions, safe blood processing and screening. In the past three months our Hospital has transfused blood to 615 anemic patients. This also comes with an increment in the total number of sickle cell and malaria patients making it to 832 patients combined in the previous three months.
There are days when we face the problem of scarcity of blood within the Eastern region of Uganda and the only solution is to organise blood donation sessions inorder to save the lives of the anemic children and adults. These sessions are sometimes conducted outside our Hospital and the blood obtained is later sent to Nakasero blood bank in Kampala for screening and processing.
Basing on our Hospital findings, the shortage for blood in the Eastern region is mainly caused by severe malaria and sickle cell disease within the region. This mainly happens during the rainy seasons whereby there is plenty of thick bush growing and alot of stagnant water which acts as a breeding ground for Anopheles mosquitoes. Once malaria is too much in the region, the number of blood transfusion increases causing scarcity in the blood supply to various Hospitals in Jinja.
Your funding towards this project has enebled us to obtain blood which has saved so many anemic patients with no hope of getting blood anywhere.
Thank you so much.

Whisper has transfused 524 patients.

Whisper's Magical Children's Hospital and Maternity transfused blood to 524 anemic patients in the last three months. Our Hospital is well known to be equiped with enough blood for every anemic patient who comes in for treatment and transfusion. Through this we always have to make sure that we find enough blood even when it is that period where by blood is very scarce in all Hospitals.
Sometimes the Whisper team has to travel 71km up to Nakasero blood bank in Kampala to acquire enough blood for the dying anemic patients left in Jinja. The severe anemia is mostly caused by severe malaria and sickle cell disease within our patients basing on the Hospital research done last year.
We thank you so much for funding towards this project as so many lives are being saved in Uganda. May God bless you. https://www.globalgiving.org/projects/help-ugandan-people-donate-safe-life-saving-blood/
