Summertime and the livin is not easy.
Often times people think of a hunger as a problem plaguing us during the holiday season. Around Thanksgiving, you can find a hundred food drives in any given city. Yet in the summer, it's rare to find even one. Hunger is a problem that affects families ever single day of the year. More must be done to combat this problem on a year-round basis, rather than just highlighting it during the holidays.
What many people don't know is the valuable role our nation's food banks and schools play in providing emergency food assistance to children in need. There are tons of backpack programs and school lunch programs available for children throughout the school year. However, when summer comes, and kids are out of school, it is much more difficult to provide food for those without.
Move For Hunger challenges you to organize a food drive in your community this summer to help your neighbors in need! You can turn anything into a food drive! Here are some good examples:
Best of all - Move For Hunger can help you turn your food drive into a HUGE success. Give us a call, and we'll help you create fliers, send you collection boxes, and even send a truck to pick up all your food donations to bring to your local food bank. It's that easy!
To set up a food drive in your community, please email events@moveforhunger.org or call 732-774-0521.
Talk to you soon!
