Project Report | Feb 13, 2023
Seeking a comprehensive training

By Margarita Pilier | Project Coordinator

Dear donor, please accept a warm greeting.  We would like to start our report by expressing to you our sincere gratitude. Your donation is making a huge difference in the vulnerable communities of the Punta Cana region through the improvement of the educational quality of this school

This and all the reports to follow will update you periodically on our progress and how your donation work in the community of Veron, at the eastern region of the  Dominican Republic.

Through this educational center we advocate for youth workforce inclusion. Over 300 Dominican young adults with scarce resources attend the educational center with the objective of preparing the youth for workforce development and helping them get placed in jobs.

This center continues making it possible for young peoples with limited economic resources to receive a technical degree in the areas of Maintenance (Refrigeration / Electricity), Bars and Restaurants, Computer Science and Cooking. In addition, it has an English language teaching program and co-curricular activities (art, culture, community service, environmental education) that seek the comprehensive training of young people and their successful insertion in the labor market.

Educating in values is one of the main objectives of the center; instill in students human values (faith, honesty, respect, integrity, justice, solidarity) that serve as a guide to live harmoniously in community and be valuable citizens.

The school is one of the key human resources providers for local companies and allowing these girls and boys a hopeful and independent economic future. The school mission is evidence of the foundation's commitment to provide professional development opportunities to young residents in the less favored communities of the Punta Cana region.
We are delighted to share with you the recent achievements:

  • 15 students participated in an artistic-cultural activity run by the Urbe Icónica entity, in which they painted Lime Dolls (faceless) representative of Dominican crafts together with several renowned Dominican artists, with the theme of Punta Cana as a tourist destination. The dolls are being exhibited at the Punta Cana international airport so that local and foreign visitors learn more about the Dominican identity and culture.
  • 3 female students performed at the “Sixth Punta Cana Poetry Festival” (at Puntacana Village), reciting their own poems. Also 20 students enjoyed the cultural event as part of the audience.
  • We reached an collaboration agreement with the Israeli embassy in the DR to develop an innovativevegetable garden, we have already started preparing the land

 Please see 4 pictures attached

In the other hand, we are planning to expand the facilities of the school by building new 4 classrooms  due to the facilities are insufficient to meet the growing demand of the community.

The new versatile space will also be used as a multipurpose room when necessary, in order to house training, co-curricular, and recreational activities among others.

In the upcoming months we will keep you updated on the progress of our project. If you have any comment, advice or question, please let us know and we will respond as best we can.

Thank you very much again for your support, we truly appreciate it !

Best wishes !
