A hopeful new school year

Dear donor, please receive a warm greeting. We would like to start our report by expressing to you our sincere gratitude. Your donation is making a huge difference in the vulnerable communities of the Punta Cana destination through the improvement of the educational quality of this school

This and all the reports to follow will update you periodically on our progress and how your donation work in the community of Veron, eastern region of the Dominican Republic.

We are delighted to share with you the recent achievements.

We are very happy about the return of the students to the class rooms. Finally back to school !

During an emotional ceremony we celebrated the start of the 2021-2022 school year. The educational community (parents, students, teachers, employees) has expressed their joy for the reunion and the expected return to classes in face-to-face mode. Of course, we continue to comply with the health and safety protocols.

We began with optimism a school year of great expectations and challenges. We continue to bet on quality education and comprehensive training based on human values.

Although virtual education (due to the pandemic) allowed classes to continue to develop successfully, once this school year has begun it has been confirmed that the face-to-face education model has greater benefits in the learning of students. Presence is vital not only for learning, but for the development of social-emotional skills.

Other benefits of being present:

• Friendship ties are created and values such as companionship and solidarity are strengthened.

• Face-to-face classes stimulate motivation, generating positive emotions that combat stress and feelings of loneliness.

• In the classroom, all students have the same possibilities of approaching learning, there are no limitations due to poor internet connection or technical problems with digital platforms.

• The student has a more active role, where it is he (with the help of the teachers) who builds his knowledge and his own training, which is essential in the face-to-face model.

In the other hand, a few days ago we conducted a medical mission focused on ophthalmology together with “Center for Fighting Blindness” that performed (by using a mobile clinic) the basic examinations to detect ophthalmological pathology, 140 students were served and 25 were diagnosed with visual acuity disorders, who were referred to the aforementioned center (located in Veron) for a very low cost medical consultation.

Some new features in the facilities:

The hospitality training workshops (cooking / bartender and waiter skills) have new mobile classrooms
The doors and windows of the school have been improved in terms of security

Sixteenth Graduation Ceremony

Dear donor, please accept a warm greeting. Thank you for your donation, we are thrilled to have your support. Through your donation we have been able to accomplish many goals and continue working towards to offering an affordable and quality education that fosters the professional and personal development of the young beneficiaries. You truly make the difference to us, and we are extremely grateful !

We are delighted to share with you these pictures of the 16th Graduation Ceremony of the school which took place yesterday July 29. 72 youth were graduated from high school (technical training included) and some students and teachers were awarded for their performance.

The Principal of the school expressed his satisfaction for the achievements of the last school year (despite the challenges of the virtual education) and exhorted the graduates to never forget the human values that were instilled in them.

Given the current circumstances, we decided to do a short and very simple ceremony. In fact, we had two ceremonies (one in the morning and the other in the afternoon), it is that to say that the graduates and their closest relatives were divided into two groups as part of the safety protocols. But it was still very meaningful and emotional, as always

The summer vacation just started. The 2021-2022 school year will start in the next September, which will be developed face to face according to the government decision given that the pandemic is under control and the national vaccination program is going very well.

We are very excited about the return of the students to the class rooms !

Overcoming the pandemic

Dear donor, please receive our heartiest greeting. Undoubtedly, your contribution to this project plays a key role in our mission to help to achieve the dreams of the youth living in the vulnerable communities of the tourist destination of Punta Cana.

We remain focused on providing better life opportunities to the students and all of the members of the polytechnic school in the community of Veron, through the improvement of this educational center.

Your support has made a great difference in this process !.

The 2020-2021 school year is going well. The continuation of the suspension of the face-to-face classes in our country, due to the isolation measures imposed by the Government to counteract the spread of covid-19, gave way to the continuation of the virtual education, following the guidelines of the Ministry of Education. Students and teachers, through the virtual classroom (zoom app, classroom platform, whatsapp) are developing the educational curriculum from their homes. This new modality (distance learning) continue representing a great challenge to the educational community, but all is going well

Every day we realize of the importance of having developed the technology training program for years, without this program it would have been difficult for teachers and students to embrace the distance learning.

Fortunately the pandemic is under control in the DR: The new infections have decreased significantly and the vaccination program is going well thanks to the efforts of the government and the private sector. We hope that the school can return to face-to-face classes soon
