Introduction

This report summarizes the activities and achievements of The Ngao Foundation for the last three months. We have started the implementation of the Safe Clean Drinking Water and Improved Sanitation & Hygiene Project at St. Joseph Primary School, located in Kangemi, Nairobi. The primary objective of this project is to provide students, teachers, and staff with access to clean and safe water, rather than just clean water. With this initiative, we aim to educate and inspire WASH ambassadors within the community, so that more people understand the significance of consuming and utilizing clean and safe water. This project is going to benefit 647 students in this school.

Progress made these months.

In this time frame, we have carried out the following tasks:

  • Completed and tiled the premises of the water facility.
  • Acquired a white 10,000-litre water tank and installed it on a concrete base.
  • Carried out plumbing and water point installation throughout the school, including 10 taps and 5 sinks.
  • Conducted water quality tests and ensured that the water meets the national standards.

The following are the remaining tasks to be completed in this project.

  • Installing the water filtration machine and training the 10 staff on how to operate and maintain it.
  • Launching the water refill program and monitoring its impact on the school and the community.

Challenges.

Limited resources and capacity to implement some of the additional project activities. We still need funding to make sure we train the sustainability of this project. We appreciate your continuous support in ensuring sustainability.
