Mujeres Indigenas Mujeres Empresarias - 8th Report

By Jessie Romero | Fundraising Coordinator

Your support for the Mujeres Indígenas, Mujeres Empresarias project, which is carried out in Campeche and Yucatán, has allowed Educampo to support a total of 93 women (organized into 13 groups) and 55 girls and boys, who obtain basic nutritional monitoring.

Despite having faced various obstacles due to tropical storms and the pandemic (in terms of the economic crisis and health risk), the Educampo team of promoters provided punctual support to all groups, always respecting the norms and recommendations of the health personnel.

Thanks to this, the participants have implemented strategies and found the means to continue producing and marketing their products. An example of this was the design of a special edition model of face masks for sale in safe spaces with allies (institutes and companies). Another activity they carried out was the development of Christmas gift kits, which were promoted with companies and generated online sales. This income will benefit the producers and their families.

In addition to this, the textile producers, showing awareness and social commitment, used part of their inputs to make face masks, which they later donated to vulnerable people in their communities.

Although this has been a year full of challenges, it has been thanks to people like you that we were able to continue working in favor of rural development with indigenous and rural women.

Thank you!

¡Gracias!
