donation campaign that's happening from 21st to 27th.

We got great news from Global Giving that your donations
during this campaign will be triple matched!

What it means is that if you donate $25, Global Giving
will be matching it with $75, which results in Isha Vidhya
getting $100!  The match is subject to the following conditions:

- It has to be a recurring donation.
- The recurring donations have to continue for minimum 4 months
- Only the first recurring donation will be matched
- The donation limit for match is $200. If you donate above $200,
  only $200 will be matched

"I travel a distance of 15 kms to school from Villupuram. My father John
is indisposed and my mother Latha works as a daily wager, taking care
of my family. My commute starts at 7.45 am. I am a scholarship student
and since my mother is unable to afford transportation, the school provides
it to me free. Despite my family difficulties, I am able to access education
giving me a chance of life and the opportunity to contribute towards my 
family when I grow up."

Caretaker Padmini shares:
"I come from a nearby village called Karuvepilaipalaiyam. I was working as
a housemaid in Chennai and have been with Isha Vidhya school since 4
years. Since I couldn’t bear children, my husband remarried. I feel blessed
to work with so many children and in my heart I feel, they are all mine.
I forget all my worries when I enter the school campus."

The Principal of Villupuram school shares:
"Riding in the school bus is the safest and most reliable way
for our students to come to school. Our heartfelt thanks to the
kind donors for providing this blessing to our children.

When we first saw the bus turning in through the gate slowly
rumbling down the campus, it was a beautiful sight. It then screeched to
a halt and the doors flung open. The children stood still for a moment and
one child took a step forward. Students inched toward the door. As they
started boarding the bus, we could immediately see the happiness on their
face. The bus driver smiled at them and the children sat back, relaxed,
ready to enjoy their new bus ride!"

Dear Patrons,

We are glad to share that the funds donated by
patrons like you through Global Giving has been
used to partly fund a a 50 seater school bus for
the Villupuram School!  We thank you from the
bottom of our heart for the donations made by
you to make this happen.

Driver: Mr. Akkim / Caretaker: Mrs. Padmini
Villages served: Arasur (10 kms), Mamandhur (9 kms), 
Kanthalavadi (8 kms), Madapat (5 kms), Sirithanur (4 kms)

Boomika, a 6th grade student, who uses the bus shares:
"I travel a distance of nearly 74 kilometers every day to attend
school. My father got immobilized because of an accident and
my mother became the sole bread winner of the family. She
works as a housekeeper in Chennai leaving me in the care of
my maternal grandparents. Every morning I start from my
home in Panjamadevi by government bus at 6:45am and reach
Villupuram by 7.45am. From Villupuram, I board the school bus.
Being in scholarship, I am able to afford the bus fees. My family
feels happy and supported and considers the bus a lifeline. 
In my life, our school bus is the only thread for me for a bright
future...."

Bus driver Mr. Akkim shares:  "Both my parents passed away
when I was 4 years old and my aunt brought me up. Since they
were also very poor, I had to discontinue studies after grade 8.
I’ve been working with Isha Vidhya as a private van driver since
last year and feel really happy to see these poor children getting
a good education, which I didn’t have access to in my childhood.
I also get a lot of respect from people around me as I work for
Isha Vidhya."

happy learning that your donations are put to great use!
