Exciting Plans for 2019!

By Morgan Domijan | Fundraising Manager

The Langoni Old People’s home continues to bring great dignity, fun into the lives of at-risk elderly, while supporting their physical and mental health through cognitive and physical exercises. In January, an occupational therapy curriculum was created to help support the Wazee staff deal with cases of dementia, of which some Wazee are beginning to show signs. Recently, a meeting was held with local hospital staff to discuss opportunities for training the staff. Additionally, the Director of Wazee and the Head of Children and Elderly met with council to discuss the idea of expanding the Wazee program regionally.

In March, we started the Mobility Assessments with the aim to imporve independence, mobility and health. This quarter has been quite busy getting everything ready to launch the physio project and the residents are very much looking forward to start their new program.

The Wazee are still very much enjoying their weekly fresh, local fruits that are provided from this fundraiser and often times the highlight of their day!

We are so proud to support the development and growth of this program, and grateful to our generous donors, volunteers, interns, and partners who turn the vision into reality. Stay tuned for more updates on the program as it evolves!
