Dear friends,

Thank you for your support of our project "Create Braille Books For 1000 Blind Children". Please, take some time to read our fourth project report. Since  the reporting period , we have done a positive change in our project , and we are pleased to report about it. During the reporting period, we have done much to create a mini Braille printing house "The World at Your Fingertips."

1. We bought the Braille Embosser “ViewPlus Braille Printer Tiger Cub Print Braille text”, software to convert Braille text into Ukrainian language, the special tool for making tactile graphics PIAF, material for tactile graphics. PIAF (Pictures In A Flash) – is a device that allows you to create tactile drawings on the special paper . With the help of heat, the image becomes convex, which makes the printed information readable for a blind person.

2. We’ve already published the 100 copies of our first Braille book with the help of our Braille Embosser called "Clever Tales" for preschool children in Ukrainian and Russian languages for rehabilitation centers, kindergartens, schools, where there are children with severe visual impairment. The feature of the book is that it is available for blind children and for visually impaired children.

3. Now we are developing the innovative in Ukraine didactic manual "Funny Math" with universal design (Design for All principles) aimed to prepare the blind children to study at school.

There are specialists of our center and 3 foreign volunteers (Poland, Germany, Italy) taking part in the project implementation. In our next report we will provide statistics on how many children got a chance to read puzzles, to read tales and to learn poems, how many children got a chance to see the pictures and to read stories. Please follow our project progress and help Ukrainian blind children to enjoy their right to read and to learn as their peers do.

Our kind regards,

Valentina Butenko
