Vaccination rates agaisnt COVID-19 in Mali remain extremely low. Only 5.6% of the population is fully vaccinated against the virus, even though the vaccine is widely available. This stems from widespread mistrust in the vaccine and misinformation that is widely circulated in the West African country.
Greater access to testing and general education on the virus is needed. GAIA Vaccine Foundation continues to educate about how to prevent COVID-19 at the clinic and through our Teen Peer Education Program. This has largely been done through a "storytelling cloth" which visually depicts how COVID-19 is transmitted and how it can be prevented (handwashing, mask wearing, social distancing).
Please support GAIA Vaccine Foundation today to continue to educate people in the Sikoro community about COVID-19 and how this highly contagious virus can be prevented.
Thank you for your support!
