Nisar's Story

Mental Health is a neglected field, even in developed countries. In places like Pakistan and especially in rural Pakistan, the disease is often misunderstood and almost always left untreated.

Nisar and his two siblings all suffer from schizophrenia. They live in the village of Pir Daryaabad, which is a coastal community near the Arabian Sea. They all developed mental health issues in their teens and till recently were not receiving any treatment to address this issue. Because of their inability to function as productive members of society, they spent most of their formative years at home. This forced isolation further exacerbated their already fragile mental health state.

SHINE Humanity started their Kuthi Khun Mobile Clinic Project in January of 2017. For the first time, patients were able to access doctors and get free medicines without having to travel long distances to receive treatment.

When the parents of Nisar brought him to the KuthiKhun mobile clinic, his condition was properly diagnosed for the first time and he was put on medications. He and his siblings have responded very well to treatment and are now able to interact with family members and with people around them.

All of this could not have been possible without the help of donors like you. Your donations help us serve patients like NIsar and his siblings, We are truly humbled by your support and hope that you will continue to support us going forward,

We wish you the best in 2018!

Ever Grateful,
