I am Sumera, an orphan with 5th class level education living with two brothers and one sister in a slim area of Mirpurkhas. I am second child with 18 years in my family, my brother is 20 years old and is responsible to take care as well as feed us, as first my mother then my father left us some 7 and 5 years ago respectively. My brother is working on daily wage basis in a workshop of cars where they dent and paint the cars. He started working when he was just 15 years only. The earing of my brother is too limited that we four members family always have the issue to have proper food and clothing. Being second child of the family, I was well aware that I should to contribute in my family earning as brother’s earning was not enough to cope with daily expenses but I was unable. Indeed, this was a fortunate day when in the month of November 2021, I heard from a Lady Health Worker (LHW) that ARTS Foundation is providing three months free of cost basic dress making training to orphan and needy girls. Really, I found it a very great news that if I could avail this opportunity then I will be able to contribute to my family through earning as a tailor. I talked to my brother to allow me to visit ARTS Foundation to know further with regard to training. I visited ARTS Vocational Training Center as well as got an admission form to submit after having formal consent from brother. After submission of my admission form, I got a call by the end of November 2021 and the classes formally started on 1st December 2021 and my training complete on 28th February 2022.
No doubt, three months dress making training given a purpose to my life. I am a skilled orphan girl and decently earning enough to contribute to my family to live a well life. Adding more about learning process, she says that ‘we have been taught everything, right from sketching, drafting, cutting and stitching even negotiation with the customers.
Indeed, I am very thankful to ARTS Foundation under GlobalGiving which provides a quality learning with sufficient basic materials as needed for the course along pick and drop facility as the orphan girls can’t bear travel and transport expenses. Thank you, the philanthropists for making this whole possible through your generous online funding for the deserving segment of the society.
