Aline was born far too early — at just 29 weeks of pregnancy. Today she is only ten days old, and her tiny body is still fighting to grow strong enough for the world outside.

Her birth came suddenly through an emergency C-section after her mother developed dangerously high blood pressure. Only two days later, Aline’s breathing rapidly worsened. She was urgently transferred to one of SEMA’s pediatric hospitals, struggling with severe respiratory distress.

Our medical team immediately began lifesaving treatment.
She received surfactant therapy to help her immature lungs function and was placed on mechanical ventilation for 48 hours.

Alhamdulillah, the doctors were able to wean her off the ventilator.

But Aline’s journey is not over.

Because of her extreme prematurity, she continues to experience repeated breathing pauses, and she remains under close monitoring inside the neonatal intensive care unit, supported by specialized respiratory equipment and therapeutic nutrition.

Today, Aline continues her quiet fight for life inside the NICU.

And thanks to supporters like you, she is receiving the care she needs.

But across northern Syria, many premature babies face an uncertain future. A shortage of incubators and intensive care beds means that some newborns may not find the lifesaving care they need in time.

A 38-year-old woman came to one of SEMA’s hospitals after months of silent suffering. She had been experiencing severe bleeding and recurring abdominal pain, conditions that deeply affected her daily life. With a history of multiple cesarean deliveries, her situation was both physically and emotionally exhausting.

After undergoing an MRI scan, doctors discovered the underlying cause: a highly vascular uterine fibroid responsible for her ongoing symptoms.

Traditionally, cases like this often require open surgery, which carries higher risks and a long recovery period. But thanks to the advanced medical capabilities available at SEMA, our medical team was able to provide a far safer and less invasive solution.

Using interventional radiology with advanced DSA technology, the team performed a uterine fibroid embolization procedure through a catheter. Specialized coils and microspheres were precisely placed to block the blood vessels feeding the fibroid — all without any surgical incision.

The result was more than a medical success.

Her bleeding significantly decreased, most of her symptoms disappeared, and she regained the ability to live her life without constant pain or fear — all without undergoing major surgery.
