Vocational Training Makes a Difference
By Amy Baty-Herbert | Project Coordinator

Dear Project Supporters,
Thank you for your ongoing support that has helped multiple vocational trainees at the Baptist Women’s Vocational Training Center. Trainees at the Center are working hard to create a better future for themselves and their families. Technical and vocational education and training (TVET) is one of the three main priorities outlined by UNESCO and has been identified as the focus for the most important annual report on education, the Global Monitoring Report, in 2012.
Students are being trained and empowered in skills like tailoring, adult literacy, catering, Gara Tyre dying, soap making and Craft & handwork. These skills are an effective intervention that combats poverty and increases the strength of local economies further uplifting the people of Sierra Leone. See examples in the photos below from the current students at the Vocational Training Center.
Your generosity is truly making an impact on the staff and students at the Baptist Tailoring Institute. The students are learning skills that will help them be self-sufficient and provide for their families. We welcome your continued support in making a difference in the lives of more vocational students. We encourage you to start a monthly recurring donation here. Even a few dollars a month will go a long way. Please also share this with your contacts and invite them to consider supporting this ongoing project.
If you have any questions, please feel free to email us at GlobalGiving@developafrica.org.
With great appreciation,
Amy & the Develop Africa Team
