We would like to extend a Great thank you for your continued support from our Children with Disabilities and for the recurring donations to our project. We became active in the Globalgiving page for the last 9 months and we got at least one donation for each month! It was possible just because of you. This made us “Leader” status upgraded from “Partner” status among the Globalgiving partners.

These are the benefits for the Leader Organization:

Eligible to be recommended to a corporate partner, featured in GlobalGiving social media, and highlighted in donor communications;
Eligible for special trainings, matching campaigns, and other opportunities just for Leaders.
Permanent access to GlobalGiving's online fundraising and donor management tools;
Free monthly training covering topics such as financial management for non-profits, social media for non-profits, reporting on your progress, and more;

Now our aim is to become a “Superstar” partner of Globalgiving so that we can get donations from the big corporate houses of US. For that we need to be active for at least next three months and to raise more than US $ 24000. Hope we shall achieve this goal also.

Eligibility for donor interaction and events;
Eligible for future trainings, matching campaigns, and other opportunities special for Superstars.

As we promised help for 12 children for a year, this time also we were able to provide help for the 12 Children with Disabilities as before. We could support for these children in the following sector for the 3 months time, they are

Lunch for 3 children
Service/education, transportation for 5 children
Medicine distribution for 4 children

Besides this,

We hired a new Physiotherapist this time and she will be working with us under this project for at least one year with possible extension. With this new physiotherapist, Children with Disabilities are getting quality therapy daily from a qualified physiotherapist. Before they are getting twice a week from physiotherapist.

Here are some words from the Physiotherapist:

“It is my great pleasure to be a part of the Globalgiving project which has such a wide range of networks all around the world. It will help to upgrade my career a step up. Hope I can bring a result oriented change to these children.”

This time we organized one day picnic out door program for the children. They enjoyed a lot. All together 140 people participated the program including the parents and their other offspring of the children, staff, members and some children from the field program. One of the mothers of the severly disable children said “I can not go out from my apartment because of my disable children, this program helped me to go out from my place”.
Also, one student from the centre and one teacher sent for bakery training for 5 days. The main motto of the training is to furnish them with skills and hence helping them to lead their life independently and to make active them in economic activities.
One day training on bookey making has been conducted in Patan CBR Organization in which 5 students from the centre participated and the product has been displayed in the public and kept on sell.
Assistive devices have been made and distributed to the needy children with disabilities. Specially this time two splints have been made and distributed.

We would like to extend our great thank you to all the donors from Children with Disabilities of Patan CBR Organization and Patan CBR itself for your continued support and also thanks to the new donors.

Now, we are in the “Partner” status among the projects of Global Giving and would like to upgrade to “Superstar” status via “Leader” status. For this, we need at least one donation each month for nine months. Till now we have continuous donation for the last six months. Now we need donation for at least 3 months. Hope we will achieve this status and then we will be eligible to get donations from the big corporate houses of US.

This time I’m reporting about our activities and the developments in our centre from the period of December 24, 2013 to March 20, 2014.

This time we are able to provide help for the 12 Children with Disabilities as before. We could support for these children in the following sector for this 3 months time, they are

Lunch for 3 children
Service/education, transportation for 5 children
Medicine distribution for 4 children

This time we organized the zoo visit program in conjunction with Hands for Care. Children with their parents enjoyed a lot during the program.

Parents, stakeholders and others are extremely happy to see the survival of the office and program even in this difficult time. I would like to share some of the words by our concerned people.

Bekha, a parent of a son with multiple disabilities expressed the view as “I was worried as I heared the news that Patan CBR has lost the support from the major donor. As my son has multiple disabilities and he can do nothing, I need to continue his rehabilitation anyway so that I could continue my income generation smoothly. I have owned a Mobike workshop and it was not possible if Patan CBR did not get the support from the well wishers through Global Giving. During the night we don’t sleep because my son doesn’t sleep and crying almost all the times and we have to look after. Only free time I have is the day time in which I can leave my son in Patan CBR rehabilitation centre”.

An international volunteer from Israel who had provided her service some years back and donated for the project visited this year said “Things are changing here and the day care centre is very neat clean and bigger in size, physiotherapy room is also expanded”. Similarly, the volunteers from Japan, Austria who have supported this project also visited this year and expressed their happiness.

Progress report from 1st Oct 2013 to December 2013

Thank you for your wonderful dance! At KAF festiva

Greetings from all the Children of Patan CBR and also from Patan CBR Organization. Hope you all are fine and Happy Christmas to all of you.

First of all thank you once again for your donation to Patan CBR Organization. It was really a good support for us. Specially, in such a situation when our previous donor phased out their support to our organization. We are very much excited with your donation that we can at least continue our support to the needy children of our society for one year.

We are successful in getting our organization as a permanent partner and we got a permanent spot on Global giving just because of your great support. You have donated $7,285 in a single month of September, it’s amazing and now it’s our duty to make assure that this amount is spent for the betterment of the children in need. We will be sending regular report of our activities until our project is fully funded.

With your support our children got opportunity for the outdoor activities like

Job fair exhibition for Persons with Disabilities.

All together 18 students from Patan CBR Organization from skill development unit and the School unit got opportunity to take participate in Job fair program in World Trade Centre, Tripureshwor, Kathmandu organized by National Federation for Disabled (NFDN). This greatly helped in exposing our student with disabilities to the outer community also.

Participation in Bochhia game and Running

4 Children with Disabilities (CwDs) from the centre program of Patan CBR got opportunity to participate in the special game called Bochhia (a game specially designed to play for people with Cerebral Palsy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boccia). Also, Students from CBR got opportunity to participate in running game in the same program.

Talent show in Kathmandu University School of Management Festival (KAF), International Disable Day program and AGM of Patan CBR Organization

Five students performed their dance in KAF program in Gwarko, Lalitpur. It was wonderful opportunity for them to show the performance. It changed the perception of the young students from the university towards these types of children that they also can do something, if given a chance to them. 5 students performed a dance in the inauguration ceremony of the International Disable Day program by National Federation for the Disabled (NFDN) and in 13^th AGM of Patan CBR, which elected the 11 member executive body.

Scholarship (transportation, fee, lunch), medicine, physiotherapy, Assistive Device

This time with your help, we were able to provide scholarship to 12 needy Children with Disabilities of the centre and will get scholarship throughout this year commencing from November 2013 to October 2014. The fields of scholarships are:

3 CwDs - Sponsorship sector- Lunch for one year

5CwDs.-sponsorship sector- education/service , lunch and transportation.

Also 4 CwDs will be given medicine distribution for one year Ruchi Khanal, Manoj B.K., Unika Awale, Suraj Lal Shrestha.

New full time Physiotherapist

With your great support we are planning to hire a new full time physiotherapist for the said time for one year. Before, it was twice a week only. We have already made vacancy announcement for this.
