We are excited to share our newly-published newsletter! We have been busy these last three months, taking in over 50 birds in need of love (and often veterinary assistance), while finding permanent, knowledgeable homes for 44.
Among these rescues is Matthew, a military macaw who was within inches of death when found by the side of a road. His rescuer fortunately had a veterinarian friend to whom he was rushed, and who turned Matthew over to us after performing emergency procedures. Matthew survived his ordeal and continues to recover at an avian medical clinic.
As a part of the larger community of avian welfare organizations, our volunteers assist in the handling of birds other than those in our rescue flock. The help we rendered to the Monterey County SPCA for Trina the blue-throated macaw is a recent example.
Of course, none of what we do would be possible without the dedication of our volunteers. We highlighted one such volunteer, Sarah Zahid, for her work as a foster parent, for facilitating the education of potential adopters, and more. Our doors are always open to those who would like to explore volunteer opportunities with us, particularly if you are in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Your ongoing financial support allows us to do what we do, so we cannot say this often enough - THANK YOU!
