Jeronimo curiosity is not extinguished by anything

By Alba Luz Arroyave | Project Leader

Between babbling and smiles, Jeronimo plays with his parents while they wait for the revision he has scheduled to know how his recovery process is going. This 17-month-old boy was diagnosed with Unilateral Group C Retinoblastoma, a rare type of childhood cancer that originates in the retina and is mostly discovered at an early age.

When he was 10 months old, his parents noticed that his right eye was slightly deviating and decided to consult his Health Promoting Entity, there he was referred to a clinic where he was diagnosed and explained that in our San Vicente Fundacion Hospital, they could find an interdisciplinary group of professionals that would help Jerónimo for his recovery.

Andrea, his mother, affirms that although he did not understand the situation very well, the Hospital received them with open arms, here we did the pertinent exams to Jerónimo and we carried out the whole process of intra-arterial chemotherapy. She says that our doctors are "people's heroes" since they are very professional and given much to children.

Jeronimo is a restless, curious and very happy child, and according to his mother, he has been very strong throughout his process. Currently, he finished his chemotherapies and is in the latest reviews to find out how his results were.

Thanks to your help, more children like Jerónimo can access the attention of our specialists and the necessary treatments so that their smile is always present and they continue to see life in the best way.
