By Mariana Alvarez | Project Leader

Antony is a 3-year-old boy, he lives in the municipality of La Unión with his mother and his two older brothers. He was referred to our Hospital in May due to decompensation. He was received by our medical staff, who gave him all the necessary tests and diagnosed him with intermediate-risk acute lymphoblastic leukemia. This type of cancer is the most common in childhood and occurs when the bone marrow has errors in its DNA.
The doctors will give Antony two years of treatment so that he can fully recover; Faced with this, his mother, Alejandra, is hopeful and trusts that our specialists will do their best during the process so that Antony can recover and live his childhood normally and full of happiness.
Despite his young age, he is a very intelligent and happy little boy; He constantly communicates with his brothers through calls and hopes to be able to meet them soon to play and enjoy his life on the farm.
The "July bonus day" campaign is approaching, and you can help us so that our children can receive specialized care and their recovery is successful. Donate and contribute to this beautiful cause!

Samuel's cure is the love of his family
By Mariana Alvarez | Project Leader

Samuel is a 4 year old boy who came to our San Vicente Fundación Children's Hospital in 2019 in search of a treatment to cure his disease. This little boy suffers from leukemia since he was 19 months old; at that age he was in treatment for 2 consecutive years and managed to recover, however, in April 2022 he returned to our Hospital because he presented a high and repetitive fever, so he had to undergo several tests where they were able to identify that Samuel again suffered from leukemia.
In spite of how difficult this process is for Samuel and his family, they affirm that they are more united than ever, fighting with love this battle of life. Currently this little boy is receiving chemotherapy and his body is assimilating it very well.
At this moment Samuel and his parents trust in the doctors who were able to help him the first time, hoping that he can be healed this time; they are grateful for the attention they have received from our doctors and the agility they have put in the care of the process so that the disease does not continue to advance, trusting in a speedy recovery that allows them to return to enjoy as a family those simple details of life.
With your donations you allow us to continue providing the best care to patients like Samuel who seek a speedy and successful recovery from the hand of our doctors and specialists.

María is a 5-year-old girl who lives in Itagüí, a municipality located in the south of the Aburrá Valley. In September 2021 she came to our Children's Hospital after being referred for a very strong flu that caused her to have difficulty breathing. After some tests she was admitted to the Special Care Unit due to a collapsed lung and was later diagnosed with Ewing's sarcoma, a type of cancer that usually affects mostly children and develops mainly in the bones.
From the moment she was admitted to our Children's Hospital she has received medical treatment from our specialists and her recovery has been very encouraging. Marcela, her mother, tells us that in spite of how difficult her diagnosis is, they have been able to cope with it as a family and have given Maria all the love she needs.
A few days ago Maria had surgery for the extraction of the tumor in which they also removed 3 ribs, according to the medical report there are still 3 months of chemotherapy to finish the treatment. Maria and her mother are very grateful to our Hospital for the attention they have received, they are looking forward to the remaining days to finish the treatment and to ring the bell as a symbol that she recovered from cancer and that she will be able to resume her life with her friends from preschool.
With your donations you help us so that children like Maria can continue to receive comprehensive care, allowing them a speedy and successful recovery from the hands of our team of professionals.
