“Being so brave is what helps me be better every day” Evaluna
Evaluna, the girl who radiates joy in our oncology ward, at just 5 years old, has become an example of strength and motivation for those fortunate enough to know her. Living in San Antonio de Prado with her parents, Evaluna has been undergoing chemotherapy for the past 6 months due to her diagnosis of Acute Myeloid Leukemia, discovered after consulting a doctor about a mass that appeared in her eye. Since then, she has received the best care from doctors and nurses who have looked after her with great affection to make her recovery process more bearable for her and her family.
Evaluna is a very sociable and loving girl who adores the color purple, enjoys flying on airplanes, drawing, painting, playing with her dolls, telling stories, giving hugs, and dancing, especially to lively rhythms like the mapalé, allowing her to feel the music throughout her body, Eva dreams of becoming a great doctor when she grows up because she wants to save children who, like her, suffer from a critical illness.
Thanks to her sweetness and sociable personality, Eva found not only the affection of the nurses, whom she hugs tightly, but also her best friend who shares this process with her. They have fun painting in the afternoons and dancing when their energy allows. Eva encourages other children to be brave and not to fear injections, just like her. She also reminds us that "as a future doctor, I must be prepared for everything," which motivates her to be strong.
Carolina, Eva's mother, appreciates that all the medical staff are so kind, attentive, loving, and patient with her daughter. She sees Eva as a life teacher because in such a difficult situation, she has shown her strength. "Since they started the necessary treatments, Eva has been very calm and brave, which surprised us as parents because of the good face she put on her situation. We only saw her downcast when she had high fevers."
We are touched by Evaluna's personality and joy; she is simply a unique child whose smile motivates us to continue working on this beautiful project to provide her and her friends with the opportunity to enjoy their childhood while recovering through the best procedures. Seeing her smile in our children's hospital is our purpose.
Thanks to the generosity of people like you, Eva and other children with cancer have access to quality and excellence in Antioquia. Your donations support recreational activities in the oncology ward, chemotherapy treatments, and technological advancements in pediatric oncology.
Your support makes all the difference;share this story so more compassionate hearts can become donors and together, we can be a support for Eva and hundreds of children who are fighting against cancer.
