Big impact this Quarter for Animal Welfare

By Alejandro Vazquez | Logistics Manager

Dear supporters,

We are so excited to provide you with this quarterly report as it was such an impactful one!

About 3,450 animals received care from our partners Cocos, if you love cats, dogs or both, you will be delighted reading this great impact we made on the ground.

During the months of July, August and September, our partners Coco’s Animal Welfare, with the support of volunteers, managed to complete during this trimester 1,020 sterilization surgeries, divided between 462 dogs and 558 cats in their permanent Spay and Neuter Campaign.

The Outreach program provided support to 135 animals, 35 cats, and 100 dogs that got fixed including animals in Morelos following the earthquake in Mexico City and surrounding areas.

565 animals were assisted by the Kitten and Dog programmes supporting other local organizations, rescuers and individuals that rescued or adopted a companion animal, securing the good health of the animals which consisted of 390 cats and 175 dogs.

On the adoption Programs Coco’s Kittens and Cachito’s fund, 60 animals were rescued in this three months while 45 were adopted.

There were 56 extra clinic procedures to animals with conditions such as traumatic abdominal hernia, cherry eye, orthopaedic surgery, tail amputation, enucleation, blind cat treatment, broken fang, dehiscence, abscess removal, dental prophylaxis, papilloma removal, tumour removal and exploratory laparotomy.

The VIDAS campaign provided Spay and Neuter surgery to 1566 animals in Playa del Carmen from the 4th to the 9th of August, including 987 Dogs, 579 Cats and 1 Pig.

From the 9th to the 11th of September Cocos supported another Spay and neuter campaign in the community El Cuyo where 144 animals, including 85 dogs and 59 cats, were fixed.

Counting all these animals, Cocos and its partners supported aproximately 3,490 animals. And educated 100 children in Playa del Carmen who attended to a conference given by Cocos staff to create awareness about pets and their care.

Thank you very much for your support.
