Dear Supporters,

During the months of October, November and December 2016 our partners Coco’s Animal Welfare had a massive impact on the region’s animals. This amazing team, with the support of volunteers, managed to complete 1 398 sterilisation surgeries- made up of 634 dogs and 764 cats in their permanent Spay and Neuter Campaign combined with the Outreach programme and the Riviera Rescue Campaign.

The Outreach

The outreach programme supports poor locations close to Playa del Carmen where owners can’t afford the sterilisation of their pets. This programme consists of providing free transportation, medical consultation and sterilisation to these communities. During the last quarter of 2016, 187 animals benefited from this program, 105 dogs and 82 cats.

The Rivera Rescue Campaign

The Rivera Rescue Campaign for Free Sterilisation was held in Puerto Morelos from November 12to 13. Three organisations took part in this effort, namely Coco’s Animal Welfare, the International Fund for Animal Welfare and Riviera Rescue. The campaign itself completed 255 sterilisation surgeries for 161 dogs and 94 cats.

Kitten and Dog Programmes

368 animals were assisted on the Kitten and Dog Programmes supporting other local organisations, rescuers and individuals that rescued or adopted a companion animal, securing the good health of the animals, from that number 111 were dogs and 257 were cats.

Adoption Programme

On the adoption programmes, Coco’s Kittens and Cachito’s Fund collectively rescued 61 animals in this three-month period. There were 53 animals that found a new home. The breakdown of the numbers is the following, Cachito’s Fund rescued 34 dogs and 26 were adopted, Coco’s Kittens rescued 27 cats and 27 cats were adopted.

Thank you for your ongoing support of our work!

With Gratitude,
GVI Mexico
