500 t of food: saved from wasting, given to poor

Every rescued meal tells a story of care and compassion — and it’s thanks to you.

With your support, Maisto Bankas has already saved over 4 000 tons of food this year from going to waste. Instead of ending up in landfills, this food has reached families, single parents, and elderly people struggling to make ends meet. Behind every number there are real people who can now put a warm meal on the table.

Each day, our volunteers work hand in hand with food producers, retailers, and communities to ensure that good food is not wasted. This fall we're spending time in fields collecting surplus vegetables like pumpkins to turn it into a hot bowl of soup. Your generosity makes this possible — turning what could have been lost into nourishment, dignity, and hope.

Dear Friends and Supporters,

We are grateful to have you by our side in the fight against food waste and hunger.

So far this year, we’ve already saved around 2,500 tons of food from being thrown away—food that has instead been delivered to families living in poverty across Lithuania. Every rescued loaf of bread, piece of fruit, and packaged meal represents a double win: less waste, and more support for those who need it most.

This spring, our national food collection campaign brought together communities from across the country. Shoppers donated essential items in stores, schools also joined the effort. These donations supplement the food we collect from producers and retailers and help us build more sustainable support for vulnerable groups.

We’re proud of what we’ve achieved so far, but there is still much more to do. With your continued support, we’re one step closer to a future where no good food goes to waste and no person goes hungry.
