Educate an Orphan in Rural Western Kenya

The students had a wonderful time during their holidays and you can tell from their faces as they look refreshed and relaxed. It is another semester and they have started their classes with enthusiasm and focus to learn. This semester is filled with blessings! We now have our first dining room after serving lunch from outside for the last twelve years! It has happened! Now lunch can be served even when it is raining! The other amazing thing is the computer room, and not just a room but an equipped computer room. Our pupils and teachers are exciting, this has really boosted their self –esteem, touching a keyboard is unbelievable! We thank YOU all for your generosity and heart to make a difference. You have made our children proud and they are filled with joy and happiness just like other children.

The eighth graders had a benchmarking trip to a school in our neighbouring county and it was very successful. The teachers also had an opportunity to visit with the teachers in this school and they are optimistic, they are putting in place whatever they have been missing out for better performance.

All the students are back to school and working hard as usual. They have had their first test and looking forward to the second test the end of July. The feeding program has been successful, our children are healthy even at this time when we have not harvested our maize. YOU have made our children happy by sponsoring for their basic needs and education. They have no issues with their health and this is because of the meal they get at the school. Most of the children in the village are going to bed hungry especially at this time of the year when we are still waiting for the harvest, but you have provided for our children at least a meal a day which most of them survive on until the next day.

Our sponsorship program is still very low, we have more than 100 pupils who have no sponsors and we know we have had new sponsors through your efforts by sharing with your friends and families. We are still encouraging you to continue sharing about your our children and YOUR good work. This gives them an opportunity to get involved.

We are also encouraging you to visit your children! It is very interesting and satisfying to see what you have done in the life of a needy child. It makes a difference by seeing the reality. This also gives you an opportunity to experience the life your children live.

We received a new baby in our family this month of July. The baby was abandoned and he was brought to us when he was just six hours old. He is healthy and going on well, we appreciate your support as many lives are rescued and given a second chance.

Thank you for your generosity and efforts in making a difference in the lives of these children. We are grateful that we can see smiles on the faces of the children. The community is changing its face and it is because of YOU.

April school holiday

It has been wonderful to have all the children in school and in good health. The monthly exams went well and the final semester exams were great. The eighth grade pupils had their tests with other schools and they were position five out of 23 schools. We had the best girl overall and best pupil in math. Pupils in other classes did very well in their overall exams and we are proud of you all. You might wonder why we say we are proud of you but the answer is YOU make it happen. The children enjoy the good environment and are well fed, this makes learning enjoyable.

During the holidays all the sponsored children both primary and high school had a mentorship program. This program gives them an opportunity to meet and share about their schools and what they want to do. They share their stories and their experiences in high schools. The students are given guidelines in choosing their careers and the subjects to concentrate on. They are educated on how to live purity life and enlightened on other things that can tamper with their education. The program was very successful and we had 150 children who participated. We are hoping the other 120 will have an opportunity to attend as we are finding sponsorship for them

They are all looking forward to the new dining which will be in use next semester. They are motivated and this is because of YOU. Your support and commitment is making a big difference in the lives of the needy and the entire community. As we await the second semester we encourage you to keep the word going, we have new orphans who Have been admitted in school and we will be happy if we can find sponsorship for them. It's through YOU that we find more sponsorships and we appreciate.

Share with your friends the good work you are doing in the lives of the needy. This gives an opportunity to reach out to more as the need is huge and we help where we can. Thank you

THANK YOU AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!

On behalf of Tumaini fraternity I would like to thank you for kindly sponsoring our children and organisation. We truly appreciate your continuous support and your very generous donation, with your help children are continuing to receive quality education in a very conducive environment, clean water, meals and basic healthcare. We are not left out in computer learning as YOU have made it happen in the rural areas where monitors are still seen as television sets by many of our rural children.

Just to share with you the updates, last year we had thirty two (32) students who graduated from primary school and are joining high school this year. All of them past their exams and have been admitted in very good schools in the country. We have fifty eight(58) continuing with high school and two hundred and six(266) in primary school. Our first group of students graduated from high school last year and have six (6) of them have joined university and 9 joined other tertiary colleges. In the year 2017 we had a total of fifty eight children and 9 babies in our children home. We are glad that we managed to reintegrate some of the children and all the babies were given to families for adoption/foster. We are trying our best to support the children while they live with their guardians and give opportunity to the abandoned and most vulnerable in the children home. Currently we have 48 children in our children home.

We thank you for giving our youths a second chance in their hopelessness. As many try to think that only young children are perceived as orphans, you have gone an extra mile to help the youth who lost parents and never had a chance to proceed with their education and are 18 with no hope but willing to do something. YOU are not only changing their lives but you are changing the community in general because the youths have something to do and are no longer dangerous to the community.

Without your involvement and generosity, we would not be able to aim high and reach our potential. It is because of YOU that the children, youth and the entire community is changing for better. We know the economy is tough, but you are going an extra mile to invest your hard earned money in the lives of the less fortunate. The needs are un bearable but we do what we can, we kindly request you to consider sharing with your friends, family, church and even organizations about the good work you are doing in Malava Kenya– share the link on your blogs, or social networks, use the tell-a-friend feature or just bring us up in conversation. We can’t help all but when we share with others we will continue to reach more one at a time.

Words are not enough to express what you are doing, but thank you once again for your generous and continuous support May this new year be filled with blessings and happiness.
