Steps to Recovery: Supporting Syrian Amputees

Born with cerebral atrophy, OMAR has faced significant challenges affecting his ability to stand and walk. Recently, he visited the Prosthetics and Rehabilitation Center in accompanied by his grandmother, where our specialized team carefully assessed his condition and determined the most suitable intervention to meet his needs.

With your contribution, a customized KAFO (Knee-Ankle-Foot Orthosis) was designed and crafted specifically for OMAR in our in-house workshop. This specialized device provides essential support from his thigh down to his foot, improving his stability while standing and enhancing his balance during walking attempts. Each fitting session marks visible progress, and with continuous practice, OMAR is gradually gaining confidence in his movements and feeling safer with every step he takes.

We are pleased to share an important update on Imad, a young child who suffered a stroke at an early age, leading to seizures and foot deformities caused by hypertonia. These challenges significantly affected his ability to stand and walk naturally.

At the Prosthetics and Rehabilitation Center, our specialized team carefully evaluated his condition and determined the most appropriate orthotic intervention. Thanks to your generosity, Imad was provided with a SOLID AFO device designed to support his foot and ankle, correct limb positioning during movement, and improve stability. This orthotic solution helps reduce the impact of muscle tightness and enhances his overall mobility.

With consistent use and guided rehabilitation training, we are hopeful that this step will greatly improve Imad’s daily movement and restore his ability to enjoy childhood activities with greater confidence and independence.
