Greetings from Uganda Hands for Hope!
It's been a busy start to the year at Hands for Hope. Term one is in full swing and the children are hard at work at school but also having a lot of fun!
Hurling has been a great addition to the variety of sports our children can learn, a special thanks to our coaches Cathal and Dorah, to Ramor.official, and the Irish Society in Uganda. And just recently, The Hockey Dreams Foundation visited our children and gave them some great field hockey lessons!
We'd also love to share some wonderful news in fundraising and donations...
Rodden's Bar in Ireland hosted a great fundraiser where we raised over €1000 for our schools! There was dancing, singing, fancy dress and lots of fun! Thank you to everyone who came, donated and helped out. If you'd be interested in organizing a fundraiser for HFH, please reach out to us!
And lastly, we'd love to share the story of Deborah, who lost her job at a hotel where she was making less than $1/day because she missed a day of work due to an illness. She was left feeling hopeless and unsure how she was going to support the new baby she was expecting. But thanks to an empowerment gift from her child's sponsor, she was able to start a cassava frying business! Expressing gratitude, she credits Uganda Hands For Hope for turning her life around and giving her the opportunity to support her family again.
If you'd like to learn more about how you can help a family like Deborah's, please reach out to us.
All the best from the HFH team!
