Progress So Far
Our incubator project in the northern region of SaintLouis continues to empower adolescent girls through sustainable agriculture and entrepreneurship. Since the launch:
72 girls enrolled in handson training sessions across three rural sites.
Two incubator gardens established, producing vegetables with agroecological methods.
Mentorship partnerships formed with women farmers and agronomy students from Gaston Berger University.
Nutrition and climate workshops delivered, linking agriculture to child health and environmental resilience.
These achievements have sparked confidence among participants and pride within their families and communities.
Challenges Faced
Despite progress, several barriers remain:
Water scarcity: Irrigation systems are insufficient, limiting productivity.
Transport difficulties: Girls from remote villages struggle to attend sessions regularly.
Shortage of protective gear and training materials: Gloves, boots, and manuals are still lacking.
Social pressures: Some girls face expectations to prioritize household labor over training, requiring psychosocial support.
These challenges highlight the urgent need for additional resources to ensure continuity and scale.
Voices from the Field
"This training gives me courage. Even when tools are missing, I want to keep learning and growing food for my family." — Mariama, 16, participant
"We see these girls as pioneers. With the right support, they will transform agriculture in their communities." — Khady, local mentor
