At just one year and three months old, little *Marisol arrived at Casa Jackson Hospital for Malnourished Children as our first baby-patients of 2025. She came with her mother and grandmother, but due to her mother’s responsibilities - caring for her other children and working as a young single mother - Marisol stays with us alone. Her grandmother, however, visits every day, showering her with love and attention during visiting hours.
When Marisol first arrived, she was diagnosed with moderate acute malnutrition, weighing only 7.23 kg at 74 cm tall. Adjusting to her new surroundings was difficult - she cried her first night, missing her mother. But with time, patience, and care, she quickly found a new family at Casa Jackson.
Our dedicated nurses spent hours gently encouraging her to eat, playing with her, and building her trust. Thanks to their warmth and dedication, Marisol not only regained her appetite but also began reaching new milestones - she just recently took her first steps, walking from one nurse to another with a big smile!
Now, just a few weeks later, Marisol weighs 7.88 kg and has improved from moderate malnutrition to "normal but at risk." She has blossomed at Casa Jackson, bringing joy to everyone with her bright energy. She loves playing outside, watching cartoons, and having the nurses style her hair in a new way each day.
Her grandmother remains a constant source of love, visiting daily to take her outside to the garden. Thanks to the support of our incredible staff - and the generosity of donors like you - Marisol is healthier, stronger, and full of life.
She is, without a doubt, our “ray of sunshine” here at Casa Jackson.
