Application of built Environment at Kole Intellectual Forum (KIFA)

Consideriably, in urban planning, architecture, human geography, landscape architecture, and civil engineering, that Kole Intellectual Forum is adopting through its action research: online and local data collection; that is, in the terms of built environment, or built world, the organization is using it to refer ito the process of building its iInstitute of Home Economics as that human-made environment that provides the setting for human activity, including homes, buildings, zoning, streets, sidewalks, open spaces, transportation options, and more; or generally speaking as "the human-made space in which people live, work, and recreate on a day-to-day basis"; but must be made according to the organization to the most ever modest standard of the current century.

The organization is conducting action research online and locally on face to face basis to  develop the most acceptable data to come up with the most modern Institute of Home Economics of the current century.

The hidden pearl: home economics education is meant for preparing conscious and skillful citizens in any given country according to a number of scholars including the promoters of Kole Intellectual Forum.

The a fundamental question generated by the organization's team is that: how do we prepare our students for the practicalities of life in society? are school of thoughts that has motivated them to building an Institute of Home Economics in Kole District, Northern Uganda.

To them, different people treat this question differently. For instance in Scandinavian and Baltic countries the scholars over there have dealt with school of thoughts in home economics as curricula that is elementary dealt with at school; expecting students to get knowledge and skills to prepare their for future life. However to us, at Kole Intellectual Forum, who are working closely it; we are going extra Miles analyzing what the all-encompassing expression of “preparing students for future life” what does it reality mean to us? What is it that young people need to know to cope with everyday situations today and in the near future? How is society changing, and what skills will be essential in our everyday lives in the next five, ten or 15 years from now?

As we know, sustainable development and social learning have been among the last decade’s key concepts, but major changes come fast, and these concepts have already acquired new meanings. Instead of all those questions above, today we could ask what skills are needed for individuals to manage their daily activities and working commitments in an isolated world, such as those created by war, COVID-19, Ebola and many more days to come?. Conclusively, the team of Kole Intellectual rested their case that: we need to move constantly with the changing world but with those who are expected to be analytical and open-minded to changes particularly in the school of thoughts in home economics.

In their view, the team of Kole Intellectual Forum: they are treating home economics as an hidden pearl hose advantages often go unnoticed, although they could be rethought in the context of preparing students for life in society. This school of thoughts, in its broadest meaning, has a significant role in students’ education. Well-organised home economics lessons to them, can recreate everyday situations and give students the chance to practise how to solve real problems. The tasks in home economics lessons are complex and thereby enable multidisciplinary integration within the curriculum. Students really have the possibility to give sense to and understand how (often theoretical) knowledge from other school subjects or from informal learning contexts could be meaningfully used in their everyday practices. So, students that study Home Economics are learning it in order to act, to become independent, responsible and conscious citizens.
