The 2nd We Are the Change x Kansai

Dear supporters and donors,

Hello! This is Yoi Ashida from Ashoka Japan.

Even in the midst of COVID, we are rigorously advancing and carefully holding events, including the one in Osaka on April 9, the 2nd We Are the Change x Kansai.

Three Youth Venturers presented their projects:

Reina is working on improving education and training for college students in a teacher certificate program. As she sees that coaching and facilitation skills are missing in the current system, Reina tries to incorporate new training for future teachers to successfully guide their students in the future.
Rinyu is publishing free magazines for children and parents to introduce quality books to read. There is a serious drop in the amount of reading books among high schoolers, and Rinyu tries to tackle the issue by nurturing the joy of reading rather than mandating it as an assignment.
Raised in an orphanage most of her life, Yuna successfully raised approximately 340,000 USD in 40 days to deliver "the best book of your choice" from 5,000+ people to 110 orphanages in Japan. She is now tackling an opportunity gap for the children under foster care system in general. Her projects include the programming education in collaboration with Amazon.com and YMCA.

It was great to see how the audience got excited to realize the potential youth has to create positive changes in the society. We also feel that, by organizing an in-person event every three months, we are nurturing the community of youth and adults who understand the importance of changemakers in this world. The next one is planned on July 24.
