Dear Friend
Greetings from BASS Worksite School for seasonal migrated child labour in brick industries, Choutuppal, India.
The 6th Batch worksite school 2022 has been successfully operating since the second week of December 2021.
Total 40 children aged between 9 to 18 years old are attending the centre and learning formal primary education and vocational skills training.
This year also around 200 families arrived to work in brick industries from Odhisha state as seasonal basis for a period from January and up to June 2022.
Due to Covid impact most of these families are in difficult situations with financial constraints. They lost work for at least the past two years.
With cooperation from women and child welfare, Police, and Labour Departments of government of Telangana and the support from the brick industries, children are attending the centre. Their parents and other people are working in brick kilns.
The government departments are regularly visiting the centre and appreciating our efforts to prevent child labour in the brick industries.
We have been continuously operating a worksite school for the past 5 years. 40 children will get benefits through this worksite school for a 6 months period from December to June 2022. Two instructors Kanthamma and Chandra Kala provide vocational skills training in candle making, dress making, phenol, pickles, pain balms and other handicrafts along with life skills and socialization.
Unfortunately this project could not get any donation support for the last one year. Immediately we need to pay the operational costs of the centre including instructors honorarium and classroom rents.
We wish to continue this centre as a primary school cum learning worksite school.
We humbly requesting to kindly join and support this project to prevent child labour in brick industries.
Thank you so much
With kind gratitude
