Children on No Pesticides Use Day

By Nasira Habib | Project Leader

Schools must teach the safety of food and the environment. Therefore, it should be an integral part of the activity-based curriculum, and every school should be required to have a child-centred garden where they can learn the art and science of growing food embedded in the laws of nature.
Children are our future, and they can be the most effective change agents to save ourselves and the planet.
Khoj School for Community Education teaches children the health hazards of toxic chemicals used in food production and ecological gardening as a safe alternative along with mathematics, science, languages, health, history, geography, social development and creative arts. In addition, the school garden offers them an opportunity to test their new knowledge in ecological gardening.
Role-playing is one of the critical activities at the school to hone children's understanding and learning.
House of Nannas: Modern Art Museum in Lahore invited children from the Khoj School of Community Education to present a skit to highlight the hazards of chemical pesticides. Children wrote the script and produced the skit under the guidance of their teacher.
The viewers highly appreciated the children's performance.
The school children are becoming change agents! This is made possible because of your generous donations.
