Two Weeks to Return: A Testament to Unshakable Resolve

By Kirabo cathy | Organization programs officer

Do you remember the quiet hesitance in their eyes—not from a lack of dreams, but from years of being told those dreams were impossible?

Today, with just two weeks left of their holiday, those same children are not wasting a single moment. They gather in our learning spaces, review their notes, and quiz one another with a focus that belies their young age. They are counting down not with dread, but with eager anticipation. In fourteen days, the classroom doors will swing open again, and they will walk through—not as the broken children who first arrived at our center, but as determined students ready to write their own futures.

Because of you, the silence of their lost years has been broken by the sound of pencils scratching answers.

Restoring Knowledge: Your gifts have rewound the clock. Thousands of students who once memorized only the sound of displacement now memorize algebra, history, and poetry. Our Digital System gave them back something no one could steal: the right to learn, even during holiday breaks.

Beyond Academics: You didn't just fill a mind; you restored a spirit. Your funding supports enriching activities like the "Art Messages" program, where students discovered their voices through creativity. One boy, who had not spoken of the future in years, proudly declared: "Two more weeks. Then I go back to school."

Building Professional Futures: You have given them a roadmap. Through Academic Advising and vocational training aligned with the digital labor market, a former displaced child is now learning coding. A young girl who once carried water for miles is now pursuing her dream of becoming a nurse—and she will return to school in 14 days to take the next step.

Investing in the Generation of Change: These 1,500 young Ugandans are not just preparing for exams. They are breaking cycles of poverty and displacement. They will not rebuild camps. They will rebuild a prosperous and independent Uganda.

Two weeks of holiday remain. Then the books open again. Thank you for making sure those books are filled with hope—and that every page turns toward a brighter future.
