Bread for Life continues to explode with opportunities to partner with local nationals already doing the work about which we are passionate. We have come to find so many that are working to meet the needs due to poverty, lack of work and the strain of medical costs therefore limiting available funds for food. It has been remarkable to partner with leaders who know the exact needs of those in their villages and who have already developed relationship through months and years of compassion friendships.
One of the unique relationships we are fostering is in a mountain community that is hosting soccer camps. By inviting the kids to come to the after school and weekend camps, they are motivating the kids to attend school. In addition to coming to play soccer, the soccer coaches are using food as a way to get to know the families and encourage them, find out what their needs are and assess ways we can help meet those needs. It has been especially beautiful to see the ways that we can specifically assist the disabled in these villages with basic necessities and food. By building up members of the community from young to old, strong to hurting, we are seeing a passion to more actively participate in school and personal growth.
