Meet Naksh.
Naksh is in 9th Grade at high school and recently attended a training day on personal safety and education run by one of our partners.
He shares:“For the first time I understand the difference between love, friendship, and attraction. Before, nobody talked about the changes to our bodies and minds at our age.”
Naksh had never questioned his behaviour and that of his peers towards girls who also attended his school. ‘Eave teasing’ is widely accepted and encourages unwanted harassment towards girls in India. It perpetuates child marriage, as to protect young girls from this harassment, parents arrange for their daughters to be married.
Learning this, Naksh wants to advocate for women’s rights and is actively challenging his male friends. He also helps his mother and sister with the housework, as he wishes for more equality in the household too!
This is just one day of training and,as you can see, it has such an impact on young men and boys, transforming their attitudes and actions towards women and girls.
Thank you for your support.
