Heal One World has been busy offering daily wellness classes in both Los Angeles and Fresno, California. Collaborating with the Veterans Adminstration, Kyjo (foster youth home) as well as local low income housing partners to offer free classes at our studio as well as at the host organization/clinic. In Fresno we are now offering healthy eating classes, Qi Gong, meditation and a beginning yoga workshop, Ninjutsu is a self defense class that was featured on the news!
Heal One World Los Angeles brought on a new Operations Manager in February – Mayuko Okai. She is one of our volunteer yoga teachers. Miinkay, former Operations Manager, continues to provide affordable treatments at the studio. We thank Miinkay for all the hard work, dedication, and heart poured into this studio both as a teacher and manager.
Mayuko is currently working on marketing, teacher mixers, and new workshops. One of our teachers is managing social media to spread awareness of our classes. Once we have new flyers and signage we hope to reach more people in the local community. As a yoga teacher, Mayuko teaches both asana and yoga philosophy. In her conversation classes, she engages students in discussing yoga and self care and also building community.
We continue to have our daily wellness classes in Los Angeles. We have recently onboarded four new yoga teachers, which is very exciting for us. We constantly have yoga teachers inquiring to volunteer at Heal One World. It’s also very rewarding for us to see the students’ transformations through our classes. To think that many of these students may not have encountered yoga without this studio inspires us to keep reaching out into the community.
In the coming months we plan to put on a series of workshops to teach the foundations of yoga – both for beginners and intermediate practitioners. It’s always great for yogis at any level to take fundamental classes that focus on detailed alignment.
We have an amazing student turned volunteer- Melat, who helps maintain the studio clean. It’s great to see people inspired to donate their time to the studio. We appreciate her and always a clean space!
Finally, we are planning another community health fair in Los Angeles in May. The health fair is a great way to get the local people together and offer free health screenings, wellness classes, healthy food demonstrations. This will be another great way to promote Heal One World and encourage more people to focus on self-care and preventative health.
