Alan demonstrates the courage of his heart

By Alba Luz Arroyave | Project Leader

Alan is a very cheerful and intelligent boy of seven months old, loves to play with the water and watch the raindrops fall. He arrived last December at the Children's Hospital San Vicente Fundación and is one of the 80 children who in 2018 benefited from heart surgery.

A month earlier, the doctors discovered that he had a respiratory infection affecting the functioning of his heart and thus their development; for this reason, he should have surgery as soon as possible. To the doctors' surprise, Alan's recovery was faster than expected; the courage of this little one helped the results to be successful and they did not have any complications during the surgery.

The evolution that Alan has had in his treatment so far has been very good, all this thanks to the accompaniment of the team of specialists from our Hospital in Medellín. His mother, Kelly, commented: "I am very grateful for the care we received at the Children's Hospital and I am surprised by the professionalism of the specialists".

All these life stories are possible thanks to your help, for this, we invite you to be part of our project of the Child Unit of Heart so that together we can help the children of Colombia with heart diseases.
